Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal

The 2013 Salvation Army Red Shield doorknock appeal is being held on Saturday, 25th May and Sunday 26th May. The national fund raising target is $81 million which is needed to cover the staggering services the Salvos provide to those most in need in our community.

Over one million Australians are helped by The Salvation Army every year. In any given week the Salvos provide more than 2,000 beds for the homeless, more than 100,000 meals for the hungry. The list goes on and on, helping the elderly, the addicted, the abused and the unemployed etc.

In a recent survey, 92% of the adult Australian public describe themselves as being "favourably disposed" to the Salvos. With such a strong support it makes the doorknock appeal work easy as well as being especially rewarding.

The Rotary Club of Galston has coordinated the appeal in the Galston and Arcadia area for many years, supported by local residents and high school students. We need persons to doorknock, act as drivers and team leaders. Can you find 2, 3 or 4 hours to help and support one of Australia’s leading charities? In addition to doorknocking there are opportunities to collect at static points such as The Galston Oval football on the Saturday and at Berowra Waters Ferry.

We are grateful to The Galston Club who once again will be providing us with accommodation to administer the collection on the Sunday morning from 8.30am and a hamburger lunch and refreshments for the helpers.

We would really appreciate any help. If you can help please email Or call Alan on 9653 3062.
